Building and optimizing routes

Create multi-stop routes, optimize stop order, save routes, and sync with the driver app.

13 min read

Routes let you group multiple delivery stops for one driver into an ordered run. Drivers see the sequence in the app when routes are enabled for your business.

When to use routes

  • Lunch or dinner batch windows

  • Several orders leaving the same location together

  • Drivers who should not cherry-pick stops out of order

For one-off deliveries, single-order assignment is usually simpler.

Build a route

  1. Open Routes in the console.

  2. Create a new route (tied to a location / time window as your UI requires).

  3. Add stops from available orders (or from the board workflow your team uses).

  4. Reorder stops by drag-and-drop if you already know the best sequence.

  5. Optimize when you want Shipora to suggest a better order:

  • Uses directions / waypoint logic when available

  • May fall back to nearest-neighbor style ordering

  • Optional traffic-aware options when enabled

  1. Review the map preview.

  2. Assign a driver to the route and save / sync so the driver app updates.

Optimize tips

  • Optimize after you’ve added all stops for that run—not after every single add if you’re still collecting orders.

  • Re-optimize if you add late stops.

  • If a stop must be first or last (catering drop at a fixed time), lock your process: place it manually after optimize if needed.

  • Far-away outliers can ruin a dense route—consider assigning those alone.

Driver experience

When routes are enabled in driver-app settings:

  • Drivers get a Route tab (or equivalent) with ordered stops

  • Status updates still happen per delivery

  • Going off sequence may be possible depending on settings—train drivers on your expected process

Owners/Administrators control whether routes appear in the app under driver-app / business settings.

Sync and live board

Route changes should reflect for the assigned driver after save. The live board continues to show individual order statuses as the driver progresses.
